A 1 GHz NMR at the University of Barcelona
The most advanced Nuclear Magnetic Resonance (NMR) instrument in Spain has now been fully operational for over a year at the University of Barcelona. In the attached videos, we explain what NMR is and explore the societal impact of its applications to biomolecules, all in a way accessible to a general audience.
Last Thursday, November 14, a group of doctoral students from the Organic Chemistry and Analytical Chemistry programs at the University of Barcelona (UB) visited the plant and laboratories of AGC Pharmaceuticals Europe in Malgrat de Mar (https://www.linkedin.com/feed/update/urn:li:activity:7263169527771713537/). The students from the PDQO, Albert Ruiz, Eduard Balaguer, and Yisong Wen, presented their thesis projects to the company’s executives and researchers.
After the presentations, a guided tour of the facilities was conducted, where the doctoral students had the to see firsthand the different areas tha
t make up a modern CDMO (Contract Research & Development Organization), such as the development laboratories, the kilolab, the production plant, the micronizer, and the wastewater treatment plant.
